The most important care symbols explained
Most items of clothing today are provided with textile care labels that are intended to help owners keep their favorite items as new as possible for as long as possible. However, the meaning of the individual symbols and explanations is not always 100% clear.
We want to help you find your way through the jungle of symbols and have therefore collected the most important care symbols and their meanings here. If you come across a symbol that is missing from our reference book , please leave us a message! We are happy to keep the list up-to-date and relevant to practice and are happy to add new information on an ongoing basis.

Laundry - by hand or in the machine
Wash 20°
Garments with this symbol may be washed in the washing machine or by hand at a maximum of 20°C.
normal machine wash
You can machine wash textiles with this symbol on the label as normal.
Delicates in the machine
This symbol indicates that machine washing is possible. Particularly gentle cleaning (e.g. wool wash program, laundry bag, etc.) is recommended.
Normal hand wash
Textiles marked with this symbol should not be machine washed, but rather washed by hand.
Washing not recommended
Textiles with this symbol should not be washed to avoid damaging the fibres, colour or processing.
Wash 30°
Garments with one of these symbols may be machine washed or hand washed at a maximum of 30°C.
Wash 40°
Garments with one of these two symbols may be machine washed or hand washed at a maximum of 40°C.
Wash 50°
Garments with one of these symbols may be machine washed at a maximum of 50°C.
Wash 60°
Garments with one of these symbols may be machine washed at a maximum of 60°C.
Wash 70°
Clothes with one of these symbols may be machine washed at a maximum of 70°C.
Wash 95°
Clothes with one of these symbols are suitable for hot wash. They can be machine washed at a maximum of 95°C.
Drying
Tumble Dry
Textiles with this symbol may be tumble dried.
Tumble dry low heat
Tumble drying is permitted, but care should be taken to ensure the heat is low.
Tumble dry medium heat
When drying in the tumbler, medium heat can also be used without damaging the fibers.
Dry high heat
Textiles with this symbol can also tolerate high temperatures in the tumble dryer.
No tumbler
Textiles with this symbol must not be tumble dried.
Dry flat
Clothes with this symbol should be dried lying down.
Hang to dry
Clothes with this symbol should be hung to dry.
Drip Dry
Textiles with this symbol can be left to drip dry.
Shadow
Textiles with this symbol are best dried in the shade.
Do not wring
You should not wring clothes with this symbol after washing.
Ironing
Iron
Textiles with this symbol may be ironed. When setting the temperature, pay attention to the material of the textile!
Iron low temperature
The garment may be ironed, but the temperature should be as low as possible.
Iron medium temperature
The garment may be ironed at up to medium temperature.
Ironing high temperature
The garment may also be ironed at high temperatures.
Do not iron
A garment with this marking should not be ironed.
Steaming
Garments with this symbol may be steamed (= cleaned with steam) as required.
Do not steam
Clothes with this symbol should not be steamed.
Professional cleaning
Dry clean
Garments marked with this symbol should be dry cleaned.
Dry clean any solvent
This textile can be dry cleaned using any solvent.
Dry clean PCE
This textile may only be dry cleaned with PCE.
Dry clean petroleum
This garment may only be dry cleaned with petroleum.
No dry cleaning
Textiles marked with this symbol must not be dry cleaned.
Wet cleaning
Textiles with this symbol may be wet-treated in professional cleaning shops.
Wet clean delicates
Clothes with this symbol are recommended for professional wet cleaning. They are delicate and should be treated with particular care.
Wet clean extra delicate
Clothes with this symbol are also recommended for professional wet cleaning. They are particularly sensitive and require special treatment.
bleaching
Garments with this label may be bleached.
Chlorine bleach
Garments with this label may be bleached with chlorine.
Chlorine-free bleaching
Textiles with this symbol may only be bleached without the use of chlorine.
Do not bleach
Textiles with this symbol must not be bleached.
